16 Jan : Disappointed over the appointment of Sukhbir Badal as the deputy chief minister of Punjab, a state BJP team has been rushed to Delhi to discuss the issue with the party leadership."We have sought time from senior national leaders of party, including L K Advani and Rajnath Singh, to apprise them with the situation arising after the sudden announcement of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal about the elevation of his son to the post of Deputy Chief Minister," Manoranjan Kalia, a senior BJP leader and a Cabinet Minister in the BJP-SAD ruling alliance, said.
A five member delegation of BJP, led by State President Rajinder Bhandari, has left for Delhi to lodge protest with the central leadership of the party, Kalia said. Asked whether he had any word on the issue with the senior Badal while he was accompanying him in the helicopter from Jalandhar to Chandigarh on Thursday, Kalia said, "The CM did not utter a single word on the issue of the elevation of Sukhbir Badal."
