Chandigarh, February 15; Today, a two days training programme for around twenty selected teachers from Schools of Chandigarh & Panchkula concluded with a resolve to promote the spirit of volunteering and replace today’s omnipresent dominating greed with love and compassion i.e. Ahimsa or nonviolence in practice. The programme was jointly organized by Yuvsatta & ACHA, USA at Bahai’s House, Sector 8, Chandigarh.
Prof. Pritam Rohilla, Executive Director, Association for Communal Harmony in Asia (ACHA), USA was the main resource person of the initiative in which Prof. Anil Sarwal, former Secretary General of National Assembly of Bahai’s of India and Pramod Sharma, Coordinator, Yuvsatta also took different sessions on strengthening Peace Club activities amongst School students.
Explaining the initiative Prof. Pritam shared that this was designed to facilitate change in personal attitudes and behavior, so that participants learn ideas and skills through interactive activities such as role-playing, instead of primarily cognitive activities such as lectures and debates. The participants also tried-out and practice activities intended to promote self regulatory, assertive (as opposed to passive, passive-aggressive or aggressive), and cooperative (as opposed to competitive) behaviors.
India is a nation full of talented minds, infinite potential, unending opportunity and fresh young ideas and promoting spirit of volunteering through Peace Clubs is the magic potion to chanelize this resource said Pramod Sharma in his concluding remarks.
