Chandigarh, August 12: The ten day festival of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore concluded with a masterpiece theatre performance by a group of youngsters of Theatre Age , Directed by Zulfikar Khan. The art lovers were enchanted with the theatre drama “Tota Kahani which is based on a story of a parrot who is considered utterly foolish bird by the King. The King is of the opinion that the parrot are of no use at all, as they eat only fruits and have not faintest sent sense ant etiquette and education .The king gave he responsibility of educating the bird to his nephew. The scholars were called and reason was found behind the foolishness of this creature. It was concluded that the parrots learning could not be destroyed in the tiny nest made of chips and twigs. It was decided to build a good cage for the parrot and scholars were amply rewarded. It was then decided to make a beautiful cage by the goldsmith and the goldsmith got bagful of reward. The parrot in the golden cage was asked by the nephew of the king. Then it was decided by the kings nephew that pundit scholar shall come to teach the bird hence decided few books won’t do, a mound of books abs scriptures were decided to be given to the parrot. The pundit got cart full of rewards and none of their deficit faced any poverty thereafter. Now the process of maintaining the precious golden cage started with frequent repair, cleaning and polishing of the golden cage. Someone remarked sure sign of improvement. Many people were employed and got handful of silver coins every month which filled their chest. There bothers, sister lived in great luxury and happiness. One of the fault finders remarked improvement in cage is fine but nobody cared for the bird. The words reach the kings ear. The called the nephew to know the truth .All were summoned and it was clear to the king that the nephew, the Goldsmith, the pandit, have made lot of money but all requested the king to see what they have done for the parrot .The king came saw and mound of scriptures and was extremely pleased an returned to his palace on the elephant.
Some fault finders remarked your majesty have you looked at the bird , the king was startled and remarked “O I forget, I didn’t see the parrot but I saw the method of educating the bird with scriptures. It was very pleasing indeed. The king saw there was no corn in the cage and also no water only, heaps of torn pages and a dip of pen, these pages were stuffed into the bird’s mouth. The bird could not breathe, eat and cry and the bird become half dead as the day passed. The supervisor cut the wings of the bird so that even in the agony the parrot could not fly. The bird finally died and the king asked what the condition of the parrot. The supervisor replied that he bird is no more. The king then asked that Dos the bird still fly, does it still scream for food, Supervisor replied no, the education of the bird is completed. The king felt the bird and remarked that now the parrot utters a foolish word and education is completed. Thus , kahani of tota ends.
