CHANDIGARH, October 25 : The Chandigarh Dancesport Association has done it again. Yes this recently formed association has again roped in the country’s best dancing couple, Shannon Benjamin and Preeti Gupta, to train the Chandigarh team for the National Dancesport Championship to be held in Bhubaneshwar on December 6.
Giving this information Mrs Rakhee Gupta, president of the Chandigarh Dancesport Association, said the country’s best dancing couple who had been representing the country in Latin American and Standard Ballroom dance competitions, had also agreed to conduct a five-day workshop for the tricity dancers at The Banyan Tree School, Sector 48, from November 4 to 8.
Preeti and Shannon, who made it to the quarter-final grade in Grade A Latin In the Asian Indoor Games, organised by the Olympic Council of Asia at Macau in November last year, won the hearts of the city dancers when they last held a workshop in Chandigarh in summer.

Dance sport has become the latest craze with 18 Asian countries taking part in the event at the Asian Indoor Games organised by the Olympic Council of Asia at Macau on November 27 and 28 last year.
The 2005 World Games saw 85 countries participating in dance sport.
Rock ‘n’ roll was added to dance sport at the last World Games. The other dance forms include tango, waltz, fox trot, Viennese waltz and quickstep, jive, paso doble, rumba and samba and cha-cha-cha.
