There is a huge opportunity in the mobilie domain with growth of number of handsets and convergence of technologies, which are fundamentally transforming the way we live, work, and entertain ourselves, Mr. Brandle said. India is adding nearly 7 million mobile subscribers every month equivalent to Switzerland’s total mobile subscriber base, he said.
Mr. Brandle is visiting India to explore business opportunities as well as entrepreneurs who could develop softwares for mobiles like portals, book readers, data mining, advertising campaigns, gaming, etc.
Growth of mobile phones worldwide is replacing the fixed line phones and some countries would be dispensing with later including countries like Netherlands which would be completely banishing fixed line phones by 2010, Mr Brandle remarked.
With 3G round the corner, there is convergence of voice, video and data on the handset, which are becoming more sophisticated and have significantly enhanced processing power that offers tremendous business opportunity around development of applications on the handset.
There is tremendous amount of innovation happening in this space which is giving rise to business and entrepreneurial opportunities and in India mobile banking and specialised advertising content is the need of the mobile community, Mr Brandle informed.
