Chandigarh, July 15:- Department of Cultural Affairs, Chandigarh Administration is organizing a three day cultural extravaganza for the art lovers of the city. The extravaganza will showcase Mushaira on the first day i.e. July 16 at Auditorium, Museum and Art Gallery, Sector 10. Hasya Kavi Sammelan and Sham-e-Qawwali would be organized in Tagore Theatre, Sector 18 on July 17 and 18 respectively.Eminent poets including Sh. Bekal Utsahi, Sh. Gulzar Delhivi, Dr. Waseen Barelvi, Sh. Malik Zada Manzoor, Sh. Haq Kanpuri, Sh. Kalim Qaiser, Sh. Papular Meerathi, Smt. Masreen Naqqash, Smt. Malka Naseem, Sh. Zia Taunki, Sh. Malik Zada Javed and Sh. K L Zakir would be participating in the Mushaira. Chief Justice, Punjab & Haryana High Court, Mr. Justice T. S. Thakur would be chief guest on the inaugural day.
Prominent and famous poets like Sh. Ashok Chakrdhar, Sh. Survesh Asthana, Sh. Hukka Bijnori, Sh. Rajendra Rajan, Sh. Yusuf Bharadwaj, Sh. Mahendar Sharma and Sh. Deepak Saini would make audience laugh at their unique recital styles on the second day i.e. July 17. UT Home Secretary, Mr. Ram Niwas will preside over the function on that day.
Anwar Nizami and Firdosh Shaba will set the stage ablaze with their enticing quwwali performances on July 18. The Governor Punjab and Administrator UT, Chandigarh, General (Retd.) Dr. S. F. Rodrigues will be the chief guest at the concluding function.
Director Cultural Affairs, Mr. R S Verma said that the Chandigarh Administration will continue its spree of organizing such cultural programmes. He further said the Chandigarh Heritage Festival at the end of March 2009 proved to be a great success with world famous artists including Shubha Mudgal, Shekhar Sen and Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia participated and enthralled audiences with their colorful performances.
The time for all the programmes is 7.00 pm and the entry has been kept free on the first come first basis.
