Chandigarh, August 2- Haryana’s traditional festival of Teej, was celebrated with zeal and traditional fervour in the premises of Haryana Raj Bhawan here today,which had a festive look.Haryana Governor, Mr. Jagannath Pahadia, was the Chief Guest and the function was presided over by Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
The colourful festival of Teej was a special attraction, especially for women and children as a number of stalls of bangles and balloons were put up on the occasion. Colourful swings were also another attraction for the participants which were giving a joy ride to them on this occasion. The audience was regaled by the artistes from various parts of Haryana who presented a number of cultural items projecting the history, culture and life of the people of Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. This variety of cultural programme specifically highlighted the cordial relations between the bride and her mother-in-law. Tasteful cuisines including seasonal sweets were also enjoyed by the visitors.
The variety cultural programme included Haryanvi folk dances like “Bag me papiha bolya”, “Kit Lag Boya”, “Mere sasur ke bag janana”, “Kachhi ghori, nanhi nanhi boond” based on Teej folk songs which are often sung by the young women of Haryana. Apart from it Haryanvi Dhamal; Punjabi group dance- Dhola Giddha; Rajasthani folk dance- Kalbelia with rhythmic dances also made the audience spell bound.
The governor announced to give Rs.three lakh to the participants of the cultural programme.
The number of prominent persons who attended the celebrations included Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee President, Mr.Phool Chand Mullana, Irrigation Minister, Mr.H.S.Chatha, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Mrs.Anita Yadav, Chief Secretary, Mrs.Urvashi Gulati, wife of Haryana Governor, Mrs.Shanti Pahadia, wife of Chief Minister, Mrs.Asha Hooda. A number of senior officers of Haryana Government and prominent personalities of the city were also present.
