CHANDIGARH, AUG 10 :The Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy of Togan today launched a five-match series against Mohali Crikcet Association at the PCA Ground 3 in Mohali All-rounder Talwinder Singh (24 not out and 3 for 23) guided Azad Academy to a nail-biting two-wicket victory with one ball to spare.
Chasing a target of 144 for victory, DP Azad Academy scored 144 for 8 in 34.5 overs. At one stage DP Azad Academy were struggling at 90 for 7 before Talwinder Singh and Rishu Chopra remained unseparated as they realised 34 runs for the eighth wicket stand Talwinder remained not out on 24 and Rishu hit unbaeten 11.
Earlier, Abhilash of DP Azad Academy.Abhilash Sharma played a captain’s knock of 34 which included six boundaries. Lavish Bansal’s knock of 28 contained three fours and two sixes. Jagatpreet Singh contributed 18 runs.
In morning, MCA won the toss and elected to bat. They made 143 for 8 in allotted 35 overs. Sehaj Singh (27), Jageshwar (21) and Gurpartap (14) were their main scorers. Azad Academy’s medium pacer Talwinder Singh and Rahul Chopra (2 for 11) were the most successful bowlers.
Talwinder Singh was adjudged man of the match.
