By: Yadavindra S Rana , Chandigarh—SEPT 9–Siamak Rouhani, Counsellor and head of Economic & Commercial Session of the Embassy of Switzerland, invited the Panjabi entrepreneurs to explore their business expansion plans in the world’s highly competitive and the best business destination, Switzerland. Siamak Rouhani who was in the city on an invitation of Chandigarh Chapter of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneur) listed out numerous advantages of living and setting up business in Switzerland including highly skilled workforce, flexible labour laws, high standard of livings, innovation and research driven environment. Principal Secretary Industries Punjab, Karan Avtar Singh, was the chief guest on the occasion, who emphasized the commonness that the state of Punjab shares with Swiss people in terms of their enterprise and productivity and hoped that mutual relationships can lay the foundation for Swiss investments into Punjab also especially in the areas of food processing, dairy farming, etc. With fifty Nobel prize winners to their credit, Switzerland is a leader in diverse hi-tech industrial sectors, and has been the gateway to Europe and entire world for some of the world-class international brands, Rouhani said. The institution like TiE with its global networking reach, Rouahni added, could foster entrepreneurship, investment, and exports from India. The Swiss consulate has set up a Swiss Business Hub India at Mumbai to facilitate investments and exports for Indian companies, informed Mr. Michael Enderie, Director, Swiss Business Hub India. Yashovardhan Saboo, Managing Director, of Ethos and Kamla Dials, who have manufacturing base in Switzerland endorsed the ease of doing business in the country, where every person is dedicated to their work and provides excellent efficiency and productivity that makes any enterprise a success. Mahavir Partap, the TiE Global representative informed that TiE has evolved over the years in fostering entrepreneurship with 61 chapters across the globe including 16 in India alone, which can provide the most powerful platform in connecting the conducive business environments of any country to the entrepreneurs elsewhere. Partap Aggarwal, Chairman of TiE-Chandigarh hoped that this would be the beginning of long term relationship with Swiss Business Hub, adding one more opportunity for local startups to explore possibilities of expanding into newer areas.
