Chandigarh, January 22, 2009:- UT Home-cum-Technical Education Secretary, Sh. Ram Niwas today paid surprise visit at various Technical and Educational institutes around the city. He visited Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology Sector 26 and ITI Sector-28.Sh. Niwas examined the newly constructed building of the Degree Block at CCET-26.
He had a light conversation with the students of the college and inquired about the facilities available to them. Students demanded a new canteen in the premises. He assured them of quick action, while saying canteen area is a distressing space and the demand would be considered and the suitable site will be selected at the earliest for building the same.
He took a round of the entire new Degree block and the old Diploma block while keeping an eye on the problem areas related to lighting and seating arrangements, lab. furniture and other requirements of the labs, Ceiling and flooring problems, seepage problems etc….. .He instructed the officers to keep a check on the problems and rectify the existing problems at the earliest. He further emphasized on building pre-fabricated rooms and walls of the building. He also directed the officers to speed up the work of constructing Three new buildings, Playing areas, Open space area and hand it over to the authorities as soon as possible .HS also inaugurated the computer lab with Wi-Fi facilities.
During the entire visit HS kept on inquiring about the student’s requirements, their future plans and what they want from the administration. A request for the CNC machine was raised from the faculty side during the visit. HS ensured of quick approval from the administration. Officials also informed him of the shortage of the technical staff. Mr. Niwas directed the officials to immediately sent the request file to the centre for approval.
Sh. Niwas was very happy to learned that all the students were satisfied by the available infra structure facilities, Lab. Facilities and the Technical staff.HS emphasized on the need of Better Lab. facilities, More head on experiences, On the spot field training, Better campus placement, Better pay packages . He also suggested the faculty to ensure; classroom to the actual field practice.
He proposed for the recreational area in the college premises by constructing open cafeteria and open sitting area along with the performance area. Hs gave various suggestions to make the college "Number One College in India."
Chief Architect, Chief Engineer and Director Technical Education also accompanied him during the visit.
