Satinder Singh,2 Apr : Sh. Rakesh Kumar, PCS, Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Dera Bassi has summoned Dr.Deepak Paintal, Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi under sections 153-A, 295-A, and 298 of Indian Penal Code on the criminal complaint filed by Sh. Anil Bali. The next date of hearing is 22.4.2009.
The complainant Anil Bali came across a compiled book “Cultural In India: Ancient” being taught in B.A.(Hons.) 2nd year course by the University of Delhi containing objectionable articles ‘Three hundred Ramayans, Five Examples and three thoughts on Translation’ by A.K Ramanujan published by Oxford University. On enquiry by the complainant, it was found that it was a part of controversial book ‘Many Ramayana-the diversity of a narration traditions in South Asia’. The book contains abusive and libelous language used for Divine Hindu Deities by addressing Shri Hanuman as Henchman & “Tiny Monkey’ etc. The humiliated language is used against the Hindu Deities such as Mata Sita is stated as unfaithful, Rishi Vishwamitra has been described as Man of Fire and Hot Headed Man. The writer has no writing decency and ethics of expression. The book contained defamatory, insulting, blasphemous, volatile and provocative material offending religious faith of Hindus. The complainant is very upset to read irrelevant chapter added for all those who listen to Ramayana that “What Happens When YOU Listen” i.e. all we who listen. The author used absurd quotes in the story and went to the extent of sordid indecency. This is a vicious creation to all those who listen the said Ramayana.
The Hon’ble Magistrate found that prima–facie, a criminal case is made out and the accused i.e. Deepak Paintal, Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi is summoned to face the said case.
The Shiksha Uthaan Nyas, Chandigarh feels that to teach the students in a contemptuous way is aimed to disintegrate the students from the soil of India. The Shiksha Nyas will not tolerate these type of malign literatures on the name of study and would expose the nefarious designs of pseudo-seculars.

In Three Hundred Ramayana, Legal Case against V.C. Delhi University has been summoned to face trial for the alleged commission of an offense punishable under Section 153_A, 295_A. and 298 of IPC, for 22.4.2009. This is an order against the complaint filed by Anil Bali in Dera Bassi Court on 13.6.2008, in the SUB DIVISIONAL JUDICIAL MAGISTRATE, DERA BASSI.
The Case was filed through Advocates Sh. Mukesh Gandhi, Sh. Anmol Singh and Miss Indu Bali.
The complainant was aggrieved and his conscience is hurt after going through the malicious, fictitious, mutilated comments added by altering the original contents of the religious book. It contains abusive and libelous language used for Divine Hindu deities. It contains false stories quoted under one pretext or oral and other without any authenticity. That it is a matter of concern that popular beliefs and prevailing traditions of Hindu Culture are projected in distorted manner. An attempt is made to create differences in communities.
I am giving below the points which are objectionable in the above Article. All those who respect the sentiments of others are requested to come forward to associate and help in all possible ways in this case with possitive feelings.
