CHANDIGARH, July 29 :A brilliant all-round performance by Sumit Hooda (62 and 2 for 14) helped Cricket Federation of India outplay Cricket Federation of Chandigarh by five wickets on the second day of the first Independence Day Cup Under-15 Cricket Tournament being played at the Banyan Tree School ground in Sector 48 B here today.
Batting first Chandigarh scored 116 for 8 in allott4ed 20 overs. Chetan Rawat and Manul Jain contributed 16 runs each. Kurkirat Kamboj remained not out on 15.Gaurav Sharma (2 for 19), Mandeep Pathania (2 for 10) and Sumit Hooda (2 for 14) were the most successful bowlers of CFI.
In reply, CFI XI achieved their target in 15-1 overs and lost only five wickets. Talented Sumit Hooda was in top form as he topscored with 62 runs. Neeraj made 20. Sahil Sharma got two wickets for 24n runs.
Earlier, CFI XI just managed to pip fighting Cricket federation of Punjab by seven runs. CFI were bowled out for 100 in 16.2 overs. Sumit Hooda contributed 24 runs. Neeraj (22) and Gautam Nagpal (17) were their other main scorers. Sunny Karwal and Vikram Veer got two wickets each and gave seven runs each.
Punjab were bowled out for 93 in 23.5 overs. All-rounder Sunny Karwal was the main scorer with 46 runs. Vishal Rattewal broke the backbone of Punjab as he bagged four wickets for 10 runs.
