Chandigarh: December 9, 2008 : Punjab Congress General Secretary Parminder Singh said here today that the poor performance of SAD and its supported candidate in Delhi Vidhan Sabha elections has proved that the president Sukhbir Singh Badal has morally accepted his defeat by announcing that he will not contest the coming Lok Sabha Polls. Mr. Parminder Singh here today said that the graph of SAD BJP government has fallen below the zero mark in a period of less than two years. All sections of the society are fed up with the non-performing government which has stalled all the developmental works started by the previous government and it has not been ableto pay Dearness Allowance to its employees which the smaller states have already paid. The credibility of the government and SAD under leadership of Sukhbir singh Badal has been lost and the facts speak for themselves. The Mohali Bus Stand which was auctioned for Rs. 200 Crore approximately has faced difficulty in finding bidder for even Rs. 55 crore after the original bidder refused to undertake the project due to unfavorable conditions in the State. Roads in the state are in pitiable condition and the services of water and electricity are deficient on account of quality and supply. Even the Farmers are not able to get electricity for 4hrs daily.
All major towns and cities of the state either have a non-functional sewerage system or do not have one. With no proper financial management in the state, the government has restored to selling its properties to run its day to day expenses. The management of paddy procurement was so inefficient that the farmers had to wait endlessly to get their produce lifted. Even Akali MLAs are finding it difficult to face the public as the much talked about Rs. 4 crore fund for each constituency is no where to be seen, whereas there is no dearth of funds for areas like Muktsar and Bathinda; showing clear diversion of fund s towards a chosen area. Resultantly, rest of Punjab is in a shear state of neglect and the Badals are concerned only about their prospects, which are not only causing resentment among the civilians but also within the Akali and BJP ranks.
Criticizing the excuse given by Sukhbir Badal of campaigning in constituencies, for running away from contesting himself, Mr. Parminder Singh said that all senior leaders of national and state parties including the BJP leaders like Lal Krishna Adwani and Bajpai campaign in more than 500 constituencies and even the they contest elections. But Junior Badal has chosen to stay away from contesting election on this pretext which is a shear excuse while the leaders in neighboring states ie Prem Kumar Dhumal and Bhupinder Singh Hooda have also fielded their sons in election while campaigning for the others. Akali Dal is finding it difficult to find suitable candidates when its own President is afraid of contesting. The PCC General Secretary Parminder singh ,Secretary Gurkirat singh kotli and Dr Raj Kumar Verka (ex-MLA) said that the Akali leadership which had unleashed a reign of terror amongst the opponents and had restored to the use of muscle power and government machinery in the Corporation, Municipal and Panchayati Raj institutional elections during its regime, shall get a befitting reply from the people of Punjab in the Lok Sabha elections and Congress will register an unprecedented victory in all the 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state keeping in view the victories of Congress in Delhi, Rajasthan and Mizoram.
