Barinder Saluja, Chandigarh ,Aug 26: Education Department Chandigarh Administration honored the outstanding students and heads of the institutions of Govt. schools of Chandigarh in a function at Govt. College of Education, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh today. Adviser to the Administrator, U.T Chandigarh Mr. Pradip Mehra, IAS was the chief guest of the function.
Addressing the gathering Mr. Mehra said that it is great that the govt. school students are performing well and they have proved that they are no less than private school students. He emphasized on the basic facilities like toilets, drinking water, library and computers in the schools. He appreciated the teachers and the parents of the students for their dedication towards the children.
Home cum education Secretary, Chandigarh, Mr. Ram Niwas said that as the results are better than last year now it is duty of the teachers to carry it on. He said that the Administration is starting R.M.MS. Scheme, under that Rs. 50 crores will be invested in schools.
In the end D.P.I Instructions (S), Chandigarh Administration Mr. P.K. Sharma congratulated the students for their achievements.
Vice President Axis Bank, Karan Butalia, D.E.O Mr. Chanchal Singh, Principals of the schools and the Parents of the students were also present at the function.
Among students who topped in Class 12th Category and were awarded a laptop & a certificate are Rumani & Neha Thapa, of GMSSS – 35. Also, School Principals and teachers were also given the certificates for outstanding results for class 10th & 12th in their respective schools. Some of the names of the awardee Principals are Mrs. Amarjit Kaur, GMSSS – 12, Mrs. Indira Dhingra, GMSSS – 37, Mrs. Sudesh Raghav, GMSSS – 46, Mrs. Jasbir Kaur, GMSSS – 21, Mrs. Madhu Kanwar, GMHS – 12, Mr. Ajaib Singh, GMHS – 42.
