19 Dec : A majestic cultural extravaganza was presented by students of St. Joan’s Public School at Makhan Shah Lobhana Bhawan, Chandigarh here today. Through mesmerizing plays, electrifying dances and a stylish quwalli, students tried to glorify the inherent talents such as goodness, obedience, diligence, honesty etc. At the outset, a Welcome dance set the ball rolling. Some foot tapping dances like’ Jamme Raho’ and ‘Nache Balleye’ were followed by meaningful English plays as ‘Lazy Dingo’, ‘Honest woodcutter’ and a Hindi play ‘Burrayian ka Fal’. The plays staged by class-1 and class-2 students were a treat to watch. It was altogether amazing to see tender actors’ competence to render their dialogues with the emotional feel bringing out the intent of the script. ‘The cultural fiesta came to a nail- biting finish through traditional Punjabi folk Dance. The exotic and colourful programme left the audience asking for more.
In the annual speech, the principal Mrs. Anila highlighted the achievements of the students and stated that for all round development of child various activities like Aerobics, Skating, Yoga, Classical Dance etc. are being undertaken. All the classrooms are technology enabled with internet access. CCTV’s are installed for proper monitoring of the classroom activities. Our aim is to become “Digitally advanced school of the Region”. Mrs. Shanta Nayyar Chairman of school announced the opening up of new smart classrooms, the expansion of the school in the near future said that school will open its new branch “St. Joan’s Global School”, very shortly.
Mr. N.K. Sharma, President notified area committee Zirakpur, presided over the function. Mr. Neeraj Pashricha, Reional Director, RICM, Mrs. Shanta Nayyar, Chairman of St. John’s Educational Society and R.G. Puri, Ex. G.M. and President of St. Joan’s Educational Society were guests of honor.
Mr. Sharma said that the school was opened in Zirakpur when there was dire necessity of quality education in the area and it is heartening that it has met the expectations of people by building a reputation of being a thinking school with innovative methods. While Mr. Paschricha praised the school for its objective to create learners for life with stress on their all round development.
