CHANDIGARH, JUNE 24 :The Softball Federation of India has split into two with one group headed by Prem Singh Bajore holding its meeting in New Delhi and the second group, with acting secretary Rooplal Sharma conducting its executive and annual general body meeting in Chandigarh today.
In the annual general body meeting in Chandigarh, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi was unanimously elected federation president in absentia. Pravin Anokar of Madhya Pradesh was elected secretary. S.S.Kalet has been chosen as treasurer. Rooplal Sharma has become chairman of the SFI.
Meanwhile, according to a communication received here from Delhi, the executive committee "supported the decision of Prem Singh Bajore to remove Sh. Rooplal Sharma from secretaryship with immediate effect."
Terming the activities of Roopal Sharma as illegal, Prem Singh Bajore in a letter circulated to all affiliated units has said "I hereby withdraw the nomination/authorization of Shri Roop Lal Sharma as the Acting Secretary of the Softball Association of India, which was done earlier by me in good faith and confidence after demise of Dr. Dashratmal Mehta (former Hony. General Secretary), vide my letter dated 21st January’ 08."
The executive committee also declared the Senior National Championship at Chandigarh from June 25 to 30 "as illegal.”
Prem Singh Bajore in a letter has alleged that Rooplal Sharma without my consent allotted the Senior Nationals to Chandigarh. "Shri Roop Lal Sharma, on his own accord, reported to be conducting the 30th National Senior Softball Championship without my approval. The organization of said Senior National is, therefore, invalid and illegal. "
Bajare has also pointed out that Shri Roop Lal Sharma, as Acting Secretary had earlier sent intimation to all affiliated units relating to the conduct of 26th National Junior Softball Championship from June 24 to 29 at Jaipur, based on the discussion he has had with me, vide his letter dated May 2, 2008. "Now he (Roop Lal) is deliberately clashing the dates of the Junior Championship with the Senior Championship, which is in contravention of the circular sent earlier regarding the National Junior, which is neither in the interest of the affiliated units nor that of the national Association," wrote Bajore.
The Bajore group also finalised its calendar. The Junior National Championship will be held at Jaipur from August 24 to 29 and the Sub Junior National.Championship has been allotted to Orissa which will be held in October. Haryana will host the Senior Nationals National .championship from December 26 to 31.
