Chandigarh, September 29, 2011: Quaker Oats, World’s No. 1 Oats brand from PepsiCo has launched a 30 days Smart Heart Challenge. This initiative encourages everybody to lead a healthier and a happier life by improving their nutritional habits as well as adopting active lifestyles.
Quaker Oats’ 30 day Smart Heart Challenge is a holistic way of adopting a heart healthy lifestyle. The challenge involves consuming 2 bowls of Quaker Oats, 30 minutes of daily exercise and allowing some fun and stress free time in one’s busy schedule everyday. Quaker Smart Heart Challenge is being undertaken in corporate houses across different cities in India. The challenge will help identify employees with high risk of heart disease through cholesterol checks in partnership with Apollo Clinics. Commenting on the initiative, Vani Gupta, Vice President, Marketing – Quaker, PepsiCo India, said “Quaker Smart Heart Challenge is part of our larger mission to Make India Heart Healthy and help consumers adopt a Heart Healthy lifestyle. Through this initiative, we will educate consumers on the heart health benefits of Quaker Oats and help them adopt a healthier lifestyle.”
Quaker Oats, a 100% natural wholegrain, is special because it has soluble fibre called Beta Glucan, which is scientifically proven to help reduce cholesterol. After reviewing a number of clinical trials, the US FDA ruled that 3g of soluble fibre daily from oats, in a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease. Quaker has a special 7 step milling technology that helps give it a unique toasted flavour for just the right balance of crunch and solubility.
In the past, Quaker Oats in association with Apollo Hospitals has launched “Mission to Make India Heart Healthy”. The mission encourages people to undergo an online heart health test on www.goodmorningheart.com. As part of the mission, Quaker Oats has also partnered with the Chennai Police and various corporate houses where the engagement involved an online health check-up, personalized diet counselling by nutritionists and a Quaker Oats Heart Healthy breakfast for all personnel.
