Yadavindra S Rana, CHANDIGARH– Aadhaar Cards of more than 490 persons were made and corrected on the spot. More than 500 persons enrolled for new voter identity cards. More than 1700 persons visited the stalls giving information about the functioning of Anti Human Trafficking Unit, Cyber Crime Cell, Child Helpline, CCPCR, Chandigarh Social Welfare Board, NULM, Social Welfare Department, Education Department, Labour Department, DART, Banks and Telecom companies. About 435 new Banks accounts were opened by the banks. More than 250 jobs cards were distributed by the Labour Department. 440 mobile numbers were linked with the Aadhaar cards. More than 700 persons were benefitted from the free health camp
The camp was held nder the aegis of National Legal Service Authority (NLSA), New Delhi, under the leadership of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Krishna Murari, Chief Justice, High Court of Punjab and Haryana and Patron in Chief of State Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh and under the able and dynamic guidance of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant, Judge, High Court of Punjab and Haryana and Executive Chairman, State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh, the State Legal Services Authority organized its Sixth Legal Services Camp on Saturday at Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Daddumajra Colony , Chandigarh.
. More than 3900 persons visited this Legal Services Camp. The Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh facilitated all the participating departments, NGOs, Principal of the host school, local councillor and office bearer of RWA and the general public for their cooperation and for making the camp successful and assured that more such camps would be held in the near future. The venue i.e. campus of the school was sanitized after the completion of the programme.
Cyber Crime Unit, Traffic unit of Chandigarh Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Telecom companies, State Aids Control Society, District Child Protection Unit participated in this camp and informed the general public about various schemes of their departments. On the spot registration and facilities were also provided in the camp by the participating departments.
The main aim of the camp was to create awareness about the various schemes and benefits being provided by various Govt. departments and NGOs working for welfare of the general public present in the camp. In this Camp, the SLSA made people aware about their entitlements and procedural aspects of various Govt. Schemes especially relating to socio economic weaker sections, child rights and also connected them to various welfare schemes meant for them through various departments, Government agencies and NGOs represented in the camp.
In this camp, Election Department, UIDAI (Aadhaar), Social Welfare Department, Education Department, Health Department, Banks, Child Helpline, Anti Human Trafficking Unit, Child Welfare Unit, Cyber Crime Unit, Traffic unit of Chandigarh Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Telecom companies, State Aids Control Society, District Child Protection Unit participated in this camp and informed the general public about various schemes of their departments. On the spot registration and facilities were also provided in the camp by the participating departments.
Representatives of all the participating departments also spoke about the activities and welfare schemes of their departments and also showed PPTs and documentaries relating to their departments’ work. The Swayam team of Chandigarh Police showed self-defence techniques for motivating young girls to take self defence training.
A Legal Literacy Club was also inaugurated on the occasion in which a special dedicated room was provided for the club equipped with a computer, books on Legal Literacy and other literacy tools.
A free health camp was also organized with the help of specialist doctors from GMSH, Sector-16, Chandigarh in which Child Specialist, Eye specialist, gynaecologist and general physician examined children and other people and also distributed free medicines.
