Parmod Sharma ,coordinator, yuvsatta, chandigarh 27 Nov ;Today the first question which every concerned Indian citizen must be asking to himself and to others is why the terrorists are able to strike with impunity in India. What is probably the worst terrorist attack on India, is totally inexcusable and to be condemned. It seems that the might of all Police, Paramilitary, Intelligence, Defence forces combined is insignificant before the perpetrators of violence.
Whom should we blame? The impotent leadership, unskilled forces, unmatched arms & equipment, corrupt system, misgoverance or people who just can’t think beyond themselves. Why Indian Law is soft on terror, even the so called stringent laws like POTA, MACOCA etc. also were far from a success story.
Now, just vomiting strong words against terrorists and shedding crocodile tears by our leadership will serve no purpose. It’s high time to face head-on these challenges by drawing lessons from past operational experiences as well as investing in and training our officers to bring out the best in them..With increasing demands placed on us, we have to adapt and learn to cope with new ways of terror.
In long term we have to take lessons from countries like Israel, how to take along all the populace against their ‘war on terror’, how to equip our forces, upgrade their skills and bring back the sheen in the sword. In short term, like US we have to seal our borders at any cost, prepare a blueprint to combat transnational crime and foster strong bonds with regional agencies. And we have past the stage to think twice before striking at the den of terror.
