Chandigarh : Members of Chandigarh Senior Citizens’ Association organized a meeting this morning to bid farewell to Sh Naunihal Singh, IPS, who has been repatriated to Punjab after over 3 years tenure as SSP Chandigarh. Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill, the new SSP, was also present.
Over 150 members of the Association attended the function held at the Govt. Museum and Art Gallery, Sector 10.
Speaking on the occasion, Association President Daljit Singh Grewal said the members would cherish the memories of the refreshingly innovative approach of Sh Naunihal Singh to policing in general and senior citizen issues in particular. He specially commended the improvement in Beat System, quick response of Senior Citizens’ Helpline, courteous behaviour of police personnel and readiness of Police Department not only to help organize our events but also to participate in them. He specially mentioned the Walk-for-Fun, Cycle Rally and our programme for Police families. He wished Sh Naunihal Singh all success in his future assignments and invited him to functions of the Association, whenever in Chandigarh, so that the cordial relationship built over the last three years may be maintained. He also welcomed Dr Gill to Chandigarh and assured him full support and cooperation of senior citizens.
Sh Naunihal Singh lauded the work being done by Chandigarh Senior Citizens’ Association for every section of the society and gave credit for most of what he had been able to achieve in Chandigarh to the guidance, support and cooperation he had been privileged to receive from the Association. He said he would be happy to be of any service to senior citizens.
SSP Sukhcain Sigh Gill, in a brief talk, said that he was pleasantly surprised to meet so many cheerful and active senior citizens together, under one roof. He promised to continue working for the security and welfare of senior citizens
