Third seminar on “Health Promoting Hospitals” for Senior officers of PGI was organized on 27.9.2011 by the Department of Hospital Administration, PGIMER, Chandigarh in collaboration with World Health Organization.
Prof. A.K.Gupta, Medical Superintendent-cum-Head of the department of Hospital Administration, PGIMER inaugurated the Seminar. He laid stressed on the need of making PGIMER a Health Promoting Hospital for the benefit of patients, staff and community. He further advised the participants to take active part in maintaining, improving and thereby promoting their health by adopting healthy lifestyles like regular exercise, healthy diet and saying no to smoking. He stressed that by adopting these healthy practices people can live a longer life.Dr. Arun Aggarwal, JMS discussed prevention and control of non communicable diseases and ways of preventing it. Dr. Sonu Goel discussed the ill effects of smoking and alcohol. Dr. R.K.Sharma laid stress on hospital acquired infections, Biomedical Waste Management and strict adoption of universal precautions. Dr. Navneet Dhaliwal emphasized on the importance of promoting health in hospitals. Dr. Ritu Nehra of Dept. of Psychiatry gave a brief presentation on time and stress management. Mrs. Mridula Watts talked about adopting healthy eating habits for promoting health.
Session concluded with the distribution of certificates and vote of thanks to the participants.
