Chandigarh, May 15 : In a decade old fight to save the Adarsh Colony, near furniture market, Badheri, from destruction finally pays off as the residents manage to get an interim stay from the Chandigarh District court, prohibiting the demolition of the colony till the judgement orders. The battle of saving the colony began with the crusade led by Ex- BJP President and senior lawyer, Late Shri Jai Ram Joshi. In defence of distressed and hapless dwellers of the colony he took up to lead a legal battle against wiping out the whole colony. The fight continued even after his death succeeded by his son , Saurabh Joshi, a lawyer himself and councillor of ward no.2. The consistent efforts brought colors and the District Courts decided an interim stay in favour of the, now , jubilant residents .
In celebrating their success the colony residents and Adarsh Colony Joint Action Committee came together to commemorate and felicitate Saurabh Joshi and his family for their selfless service and their whole-hearted help to save the dejected Adarsh Colony residents from being uprooted from their own homes. Delivering on this occasion Committee Chairman Irshad Ahmed and President Sanjay Patel ,both thanked the Joshi’s and their untiring efforts in saving the residents from becoming shelter-less and saving their homes , a debt that they would never be able to pay back. Paying great homage and obeisance to Late Shri Jai Ram Joshi they gave complete credit to him calling him a messiah of downtrodden who dedicated his complete life for their upliftment and whose continuous strenuous labours made this fateful day possible. They expressed great relief and happiness that now his son, Saurabh Joshi is treading on his father’s footsteps.
The councillor Saurabh Joshi humbly thanked the residents for felicitating him and his father. He confessed that it the ethics and values of his father and fore fathers that he is treading on the path of helping all who are without help. He said that being a common man himself he is respectful of woes and struggles of others like himself and that he would always keep on his fight for getting justice for the needy. Assuring the people of the colony , he ascertained his complete services for the colony and residents even in the future.
