Chandigarh March 17, 2013. Sh. Satya Pal Jain, Ex-City MP and National Incharge of the Legal & Legislative Cell of the BJP has criticized the Central Congress (I) Government for not allowing the residents of Janta Nagar, Manimajra whose houses were demolished a few days back, to either construct their houses at the same place or provide them alternative accommodation. He said that despite repeated assurances, nothing concrete has been done even after one month of the demolitions, which has compelled now one of its another leader namely Shrimati Pooja Sharma to sit on fast unto death, since March 14, 2013. Earlier, Shri Niwas Kala was sitting on fast unto death but when he was rounded up by the local administration on March 14, now Smt. Pooja Sharma is sitting on fast unto death since then.
Mr. Jain today visited the site where the residents are sitting in 24 hour hunger strike and where now Mrs. Pooja Sharma has started fast unto death and addressed the gathering there. He listened to the woes of the people and also sat with them in Dharna for about one hour.
Mr. Jain said that if any thing happens to Mrs. Pooja Sharma, the Union Congress (I) Government will be fully responsible for it. He said that it is unfortunate that though the poor residents of Janta Nagar Mani Majra are sitting on chain hunger strike for more than a month, the Congress Government has done nothing to solve their problems.
Mr. Jain said that unfortunately though the local MP, who is railway Minister at the Centre did visit Manimajra yesterday but he did not bother to visit the place, where a lady who is his voter also is sitting on fast unto death. This shows that inspite of his tall claims, he and his government does not bother about the woes of the common man even in his own constituency.
