Chandigarh April 16, 2011. Mr. Satya Pal Jain, Ex City MP and the National Incharge of the Legal and Legislative Cell of the BJP, today criticized the Congress (I) led Central Government for not declaring a Public Holiday in UT Chandigarh on Lord Mahavir Jayanti on April 16, 2011 and also not closing the slaughter houses for even a single day on the birthday of Lord Mahavir, a great champion of the principles of non-violence and ‘live and let live’. Mr. Jain said that during the last few days, a number of delegations of the Jain Community met the “Central Minister”, who did nothing in the matter except giving false assurances and false promises.Mr. Jain was addressing a large gathering of the Jain Community in Sector 18 Jain Sathanak as the Chief Guest, in connection with “Lord Mahavir Jayanti” celebrations. He said that the message of non-violence, tolerance, love & respect for each & every living being and ‘live & let live’, which were given by Lord Mahavir thousands years ago, are more relevant in today’s scenario. He said that the proper understanding of Lord Mahavir’s teachings is a must for establishment of world peace. He said that one of the distinguishing features of Jain Dharam is its belief that every “Atma” (soul) can, by its purification, be converted into “Parmatma” (God).
Mr. Jain said that it has become the duty of every citizen, who believes in Lord Mahavir, to fight against corruption in the society. He said that the serious allegations of corruption being levelled against Central Minister, MPs, MLAs, politicians, bureaucrats, etc. are a slur on the society and this slur can be washed away more effectively if one follows the message of Lord Mahavir to fight relentlessly for the eradication of evils from the society. He said that one of the best ways to pay obeisance to Lord Mahavir can be by taking a pledge and determination to fight & finish the corrupt & corruption from the society.
