Chandigarh, 9 Jan : Encouraged by the support for justice in Ruchika case, over a dozen social organisations on Saturday came on single platform forming new organisation Tri-city Social Organisations Federation (TRISOFed). The Federation comprising NGOs and social organisations will raise the issues related with civil liberates and democratic rights.
“We will raise the voice, whenever we would find any type of injustice in the society,” said SP Singh, coordinator of the newly formed federation here adding they would broaden the platform in coming days involving more groups. “We will also try to build pressure on authorities on issues related with civil liberties in peaceful and democratic manner,” said Singh, who is also secretary of Panchkula based Democratic Forum.
Member of Haryana Administrative Reforms Commission DR Chaudhry, who also participated in the meeting, said that the new platform would work as a tool for creating public opinion on issues related with human rights. Professor Manjeet Singh, president of Punjab University Teachers Association said that they would work on non-political and non-religious basis to raise the voice on social issues.
In fact, many organisations came together to ensure justice for Ruchika family recently. There was a feeling among the leaders of these organisations that there should be a broader platform covering Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula to fight for the similar causes. Initially, Democratic Forum Panchkula took initiative in organising a candle at Panchkula on December 24 and at Chandigarh on December 28 seeking justice in Ruchika case.
On Saturday, a coordination committee of newly federation comprising Zulfikar Khan of Theater Age, Dr Daleep Kumar of Pani Foundation, Parmod Sharma of Yuv Satta, Wing Commander (retired) HL Ratta of Panchkuala Resident Welfare Association, Professor Akshay Kumar from Voices of Civil Society, Rabinder Sharma from Education Watch and SK Khosla from Chetna Manch has been set up. SS Cheema of Sahitya Chintan will be co-coordinator of the federation.
