Chandigarh, July 21: Rotary Club of Chandigarh which had been supporting and partnering with the Department of Anatomy, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research for past several year would be participating again in the Dr. I.J. Dewan Memorial Workshop.
The Rotary Club had not only been promoting organ and body donation amongst the members, it had been actively promoting the participation of their Interact Clubs in this regular annual programme of the Department of Anatomy, “Organs Talk-Time to Take Prevention”, informed Rotary Club President Rtn D.P. Singh.
Dr. Daisy Sahni, professor and head, department of Anatomy, PGIMER, presented a memento to the President D.P. Singh and Secretary Mona Khattar for the Rotary Club’s support.
Dr. Sahni informed that nearly 1000 children from various schools participate who see the result the bad habits have on our body. They can see the damaged liver due to alcohol intake, damaged lungs caused by smoking, osteoporotic bones, brain with edtra-dural hameatoma due to head injury for those who refuse to wear helmets while driving, and impact of junk and fatty food on heart.
She said that the objective had been to sensitise the children and help them understand the bad effect of unhealthy habits. These children become the ambassadors to take this message home and spread it amongst their peers, she added.
