Chandigarh, August 18, 2014: Members of Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik today celebrated Janamashtmi with the students of the Institute for the Blind, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Nearly 60 students of the School and over 40 members of Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik and Rotaract Club Chandigarh Shivalik participated in the celebrations.
While a group of 20 students of the Blind School sang bhajans, and danced with enthusiaism and led the Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik members in singing bhajans in praise of Lord Krishna. Rotarian Sham Rawal gave the students a brief insight into why Janamashtmi is celebrated and led the students chanting “Radhey-Radhey. The Rotarians, led by Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik President Rtn M L Gupta and Secretary Manjit Kaur served fruits and juices to the children.
According to Rtn M L Gupta, President, Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik, “All us Rotarians were indeed very happy to have got the opportunity to interact and be of service to these special children on this auspicious day. Our mission, as Rotary members, is to provide service to others, promote integrity and advance world understanding, goodwill and peace and we will continue to do this is as many ways as possible.”
