Chandigarh, September 28th : :With the theme “Chandigarh- the city beautiful” , a painting competition was held in the third phase of the Rock Garden, being organised by Department of Tourism Chandigarh Administration as a part of the ongoing World Tourism Week . Around 250 students from various Government schools in Chandigarh participated in the painting competition which had participation of students from various age groups.
The results of the painting competition were declared on the spot. In the first category, the first prize was bagged by Rohit Kumar of Govt Senior Secondary School, Sector 32 and second and third prize went to Vishal Sethi and Mohit Kumar from GMSSS Manimajra and GMSSS Modern Complex , Sector 30 respectively whereas the consolation prizes went to Sandeep Kumar from Govt High School, Sector 32 and Jaswinder of GMSSS 2. The winners were felicitated with a cash prize of Rs 3000/- , Rs 2000/- and 1000/-respectively and the consolation prizes were for Rs 500/- each.
The students focussed on the most beautiful tourist spots of Chandigarh like Rock Garden, Sukhna Lake and Rose Garden. Some students captured the beauty of Open Hand Monument . The best entry was created in poster, their strokes and touches very impressive and forceful.
Being organised at one of the most prominent Rock Garden, the students enjoyed the ambience and refreshment at the site. The judges on the panel were Mr. Ravinder Sharma Professor and other professors from College of Arts.The prizes were distributed on the spot.

Tomorrow, i,e 29th September, CITCO, Department of Tourism and NZCC shall organise CITCO STREET ART ANDSTREET FOOD FESTIVAL at Sukhna Lake .The street food festival will be organized at CITCO’s lake cafeteria while the STREET ART FESTIVAL shall be organized on the closed area on the road and in the adjoining area of the lake .The road shall be closed between 4 pm – 9 pm and this area shall become the main focal point of festivities. The Festival promises to be a complete treat for art lovers encompassing so many activities by artists, painters, sculptors, and potters, photographers displaying their art and performing live. Demos from renowned artists of the city, rock bands, live music, fusion dance, piano performance, violin performance jive(choreographed dance), street plays , sand art and installations and an array of other exciting arty activities can provide a never-before experience to Chandigarh.The participation is open to all amateur and professional artists and performers in various art forms.
