Manoj Godara, Chandigarh, September 29: The Rockefeller Fellowship awardee, Prof. Rumina Sethi of the English department of Panjab University will get her just completed book, ‘The Politics of Post-colonialism’ (Pluto Press, London), released at the Frankfurt Book Fair in October.
Relevant to both students and teachers of postcolonial theory in the present times when colonialism as direct political control has largely lost its hold and postcolonial cultures are seeking new ways of expression – such a study gains immense relevance particularly since it aims at linking postcolonial writing with political protect and resistance among people of the third world. It is in connection with this research project that she was awarded the Rockefeller Fellowship at the Bellagio Study and Conference Centre, Italy, and then elected as a Senior Associate Member of the Faculty of English, University of Oxford.
