Chandigarh, Jan. 11, 2009 :The true personality of a man’s wisdom can be seen in the way he repays those who have helped him achieve greatness in life. It is always a teacher or a parent who feels ennobled on the success of a child.Dr R C Sobti, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh said these words while addressing the students on Mat Pita Santan Divas function of Dr Khera’s Chandigarh Coaching Centre at the local Tagore Theatre here today.
On this occasion, Dr. Sobti was honoured by Dr. Khera with a cheque for Rs 1,00,000/- towards a new fund to be established by the University named, Vice Chancellor’s Fund for the deserving and the needy keeping in view his most philanthropic and wonderful humane work towards the university students, staff and faculty.
He presided over the function and lauded the efforts of Dr. Khera and his colleagues in organizing such inspring function on a unique theme every year. He exhorted the audience to tread the path of preserving our country’s great value system and culture while making efforts for success in material life.
The auditorium was packed to capacity consisting of high dignitaries from different walks of life, students and their parents.
The audience was kept spell-bound as emotional musical items including group and solo songs were presented by the students. A soul stirring one act play, "Aisa Kyon????" directed by a teacher of the institute Sh. Ashwani Ohri won much appreciation from all present.
The function began with a Himachali song dedicated to a mother who always provides selfless service to her children. This was followed by a soul searching lecture by a leading spiritual preacher and social worker Shriman Baldev Singh Ji who analysed the root cause of malignancy in parent – student relationship. This was followed by a group song, "Maan Baap Ka Dil Na Tum Yun Dukhao" which made those present realize the sufferings and pain caused by them to their parents. Centre students Ramandeep and Sona spoke how Bhagwan Devatma’s ideal relationship with his parents and his highest psychic influences have helped a large number of people to transform their evil relationship with their parents into a heaven-like harmonious relationship. A melodious song to inculcate the feeling of gratitude "Kaise Maata aur Pita ke Upkaar Sunaoon Main" followed.
The parents, on their part, were deeply appreciative of the very sincere efforts made by Dr. Khera and his mentor Bhagwan Devatma for inculcating higher values in his students.
One of the parents, Sardar Harkirat Singh, appreciative of the efforts of the institute, said that such a soul uplifting programme is something unheard of in the present day materialistic and commercialised world. He paid glowing tributes to Dr. Khera for the unique character of the institute which most spiritedly fulfilled the educational as well as emotional requirements of the students.
Dr Vinod Khera, Director, Chandigarh Coaching Centre addressing the audience stressed on the importance of respect for elders and feeling of gratitude, particularly towards parents, highlighting on the changing scenario in which parents and children are becoming increasingly devoid of a mutually happy and beneficial relationship. We need to respect our elders for achieving all we aspire for in life, he added. He asked the students to follow the example of Komal Parmar and Rohit Arora our last year’s topper students who got admission in AIIMS and IIT respectively.
A soulful melody "Maa Pyari Ma, Goad Me Teri Khela Bachpan Mera" by Anjana, a student of the center helped the emotions of the audience to flow. Every item presented by the engineering and medical aspirants was no less than professional and drew repeated applause. Hardly a soul present at the function was left unmoved.
