The India Post Team, 21st June:One day workshop on Reproductive Rights was organized by Youth Sports and Welfare Club, FXB India Suraksha and Butterfly Nature Club of India – an NGO working for migrants at village Khuda Lahora. Mr. Pritpal Singh, President, Youth Sports and Welfare Club welcome the delegates and guests at the workshop.
Mr. Umesh Jai prakash Baurai, FXB India Suraksha in his introductory speech defined Reproductive Rights as Rights related to reproduction and reproductive health. Reproduction means sexual congress between male and female resulting pregnancy and child birth. Reproductive health implies people have satisfying and safe sex life with freedom to decide and excess to affordable methods of fertility regulation and excess to appropriate health care services that will in able women go through safer pregnancy and child birth. Reproductive Rights also includes right to legal abortion, right to control once reproductive functions and desire age difference between births of children. It is been observed in India due to lack of holistic health education rural youth are deprived of correct and authentic information related to Reproductive Rights.
Ms. Pinki H. Madan, Chairperson, Butterfly Nature Club of India stated that Indian rural youth in the name of culture and moral values can not be denied of reproductive rights as they are same as human rights. The condition of rural females are worse as they have to suffer gender discrimination and don’t have much say in selecting the contraceptives of her desire.
Dr. Avnish Jolly, facilitator, on this occasion stated that in the time of globalization where migration is of a high degree it is a moral responsibility of elected member of institutions to promote ground where rural youth can talk about sex and sexuality and their inherent reproductive rights. It is Human Right of a child to have safer soundings free from unhygienic conditions and to have active and healthy parents. This is only possible when both the parents at the time of their initial youth days have information about reproductive rights.
Mr. Raja Ram Gupta ORW, FXB India Suraksha gave vote of thanks and asked guests to promote reproductive rights for better safer and prosperous healthy India.
