21 Nov : Red Ribbon Club of Govt.College for Girls, Sec-42, Chandigarh organized Slogan Writing Inter-College Competition HIV /AIDS awareness in collaboration with State AIDS control society ,Chandigarh Administration .As many as Eight City Colleges participated in the competition .
Harkirat and Shweta of GCG-42, got First and Second Prize respectively while Anshul Mishra of GC-11 got Third Prize on Slogan writing Competition.Earlier the club also organized Theme event on “should HIV test should be made mandatory before marriage” in which about 100 students expressed their views and majority of them in favour of the test .On the occasion workshop on AIDS related issue was conducted by Dr.Bhavneet Bharti, Assistant Professor Department of Pediatrics, PGI Chandigarh along with her team members. More than 300 students of various streams and NSS Volunteers participated in the workshop. She basically emphasized the various aspects related with HIV and AIDS .She further elaborated that about the ABC of AIDS and its implementation in the practical life. She also distributed special AIDS Awareness Questionnaire and book on HIV/AIDS . There is a need for Peer education for better understanding of the issue .Principal Mrs.Shashi Malik appreciated the efforts of the club and gave away the prizes .Dr.Neelam Sharma and Dr.Neelima Talwar coordinated the function.
