Chandigarh, June 11; Today, Yuvsatta-an NGO launched a ‘Read Bapu Dham Contest’, through their Kitab Ghar library in the Bapu Dham Colony, Chandigarh. Hushang Garmroud, an educationist and social worker of International repute was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Giving information about the initiative Parmod Sharma, Coordinator, Yuvsatta shared that from last four years, they’re organizing this annual fifteen day long event of Read Bapu Dham Contest, in which their volunteers motivate young children in Bapu Dham to spend most of their leisure time of summer break in reading good books. And by 30th of June, a best young reader will be honoured with a new bicycle for the maximum number of books they had read in their holidays.To popularize the culture of reading Yuvsatta volunteers also organize programmes like book talks, story telling sessions, educational excursions and what young members like and wait for are monthly B’day parties, usually on last Saturday of the month, for members whose B’day fall in that particular month. Now, their Kitab Ghar library has more than 500 active members in this slum settlement.
