Chandigarh,16Apr:Intellectuals, teachers , activists and students of Punjab university, ‘collective’, organized a meeting on, Radical Democracy and future of Maoist struggle in Nepal yesterday, 15th April , 2008 at 6 pm in Golden Jubilee Guest House in Panjab University Chandigarh. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Randheer Singh, a noted Marxist Political Theorist. Nick Grant , a professor and University teacher activist from London presented his own ideas on ‘ historical and contemporary aspects of revolutionary republican democratic upsurge in Nepal. In his observations he has underlined the demise of monarchy and dynastic rule in Nepal and the upsurge of People’s democracy is a peculiar outcome of Maoist struggle and it generates faith in the collective capabilities of radical communist struggle and it’s supporters in whole world in the times of war, democracy and globalization.
Professor Randheer Singh has drawn attention of the participants towards the challenges before New born Radical Democracy in Nepal and said that parliament always tried to civilize you and in turn takes away your politics by co-option , therefore , the leadership of CPI (MAO) needs to be careful about this historical trajectory. He also congratulated and expressed his solidarity to the friends of Nepal on this wonderful historical victory towards the emancipatory politics of the masses of Nepal.
Another interesting observation was made by Shri Balwinder Rana, an activist involved in anti-war movement in London, according to him, CPI (MAO’st) in Nepal have earned their credibility through struggle’s of ordinary Nepali masses and now in times to come they have to deliver the good, in order to sustain their kind of democracy first time in world history.
Others who participated in the discussion , including Dr. Kuldeep Puri, Prof.. G S Brar , Master Kuldeep Singh , Dr. Satya Pal Sahgal , Dr. Charanjit singh Nabha , Dr. Ravinder Nath Sharm , Fellow , Panjab university and Lallan S. Baghel from Department of Philosophy, all participants congratulated Comrade Prachanda and his party for their wonderful victory and expressed solidarity with Nepali friends and comrades! Dr. Ravinder Nath sharma proposed the vote of thanks .
