Chandigarh,18 July: PUSU staged a protest at student centre to draw the attention of P.U. authorities towards problems faced by students to avail hostel facility. Protest was led by Mr. Tejpal Singh Cheema, President (PUSU), as University has started new courses without making necessary arrangement for accommodation of new students. As it is mandatory to attend 33% lectures in first 10 days. As large number of students are from far off places. Keeping in view the gravity of the problems faced by the university students. PUSU urged the university authority to make necessary arrangements far hostel accommodation and also start construction of new hostels for both the girls and boys and soon as possible.
Meanwhile Dean Student Welfare assured to look into the matter and to solve the problems regarding hostel accommodation by Monday. PUSU also submitted a memorandum to Vice-Chancellor yesterday regarding this matter. If the university does not pay heed to the above said demands, we will launch a massive agitation against the university authority.
