The India Post, Chandigarh, 9th February, 2009 : Chandigarh Tourism Club today organized a function to felicitate the team of the upcoming PunjabiMovie "Munde UK De". UT Home-cum-Tourism Secretary and also the Chief Patron Chandigarh Tourism Club, Mr. Ram Niwas was the chief guest on the occasion.
Tourism Secretary felicitated and honored the team of Munde UK De including eminent writer, producer & director, Mr. Manmohan Singh, renowned Actor, Mr. Jimmy Shergill, Actress, Ms. Neeru Bajwa and Ms. Akshita. Mr. Niwas while giving his keynote address revealed that last year, around 25 films were shot in the City and this year UT Administration targets to get around 50 films shot in the city, which would provide better opportunities to the budding actors/actresses of the city and will also give boost to the city’s economy.
Home Secretary stated that the Chandigarh Administration has been promoting city as a right destination for Cinematic Tourism. He further informed that various initiatives have already been taken by the Administration in this direction, of which, the most significant is the unique Single Window Clearance System, through which the Film Fraternity gets all permissions, easily, under one roof for shooting a movie in the city. Chandigarh Administration will extend all possible support to the film industry to promote Chandigarh as a ideal Cinematic Tourism Destination in the country, added Mr. Niwas.
Tourism Secretary also pointed out that there was a need to look into the technical aspects of movie making and creating new innovative ideas and concepts in film making.
While addressing the august gathering, Mr. Manmohan Singh appreciated the efforts put in by the Administration to promote Chandigarh as Cinematic Tourism Destination and for starting such a unique interface of the Administration with cinema in the shape of Single Window Clearance System. He apprised the audience that the system is probably the first of its kind in the country.
Director Tourism, Mr. Samwartak Singh, Secretary General, Chandigarh Tourism Club, Dr. Gulshan Sharma and eminent personalities from Cinema were present during the function.
