Barinder Saluja, Chandigarh, Sept. 23: The on going Punjab University Zonal Youth & Heritage festival concluded with pomp and show.Though the incandescent & continuous rains in Chandigarh played a spoil sport as the outdoor events could not be conducted, still the three day festival wore a colorful and jubilant mood. The students could be seen dancing to the tunes of Punjabi songs in the lawns of the college despite of heavy rainfall, drenched to the skin & splashing in the mud slug, were seen jumping & tapping their feet’s. The Lawns of the Post Graduate Government College went live with Dj playing favorite songs of the Boys & Girls in the campus. Thirty Six different colleges from the various cities of Punjab falling under Punjab University participated in this festival. Bhangra, Gidda, Plays, Mimes, Singing competitions were conducted at the PGGC – 11.
The results of the most awaited, in the categories of, Gidda & Bhangra were declared today. In the individual dance category the first prize was bagged by Harjot Kaur of GC-11, whereas 2nd prize was won by Prabhjot of PU Campus and the 3rd went to Kanika Sharma of SD college. The spectacular display of Gidda by the students of various colleges was displayed on stage. In the team event of gidda the first Prize was won by Sri Guru Gobind Singh College for Girls sector 26; second prize went to PGGC – 11 and the third prize was bagged jointly by PU Campus & GC – 46.
In Bhangra competition, the team event was won by PGGC – 11; second prize went to DAV College – 10 & third spot went to PGGC – 46.
