CHANDIGARH, JULY 28:Cricket Federation of Punjab snatched an exciting four-run victory over Cricket Federation of Chandigarh in the inaugrual match of the first edition of Under-15 Independence Day Cup Cricket Tournament being conducted by Cricket Federation of India at the Banyan Tree School ground in Sector 48 here today.
Batting first, CF Punjab posted 135 in 22 overs, Jaydeep Bose (22) and Sunny Karwal (20) were their main scorers. Manul Jain of CF Chandigarh captured five wickets for 26 runs.
In reply Chandigarh could score 131 for 9 in stipulated 22 overs. Sahil Sharma remained not out with 52 and was declared Man of the Match.
The tournament is being organised to provide match practice to Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh and Cricket Federation of India teams which will take part in the Inter-State National Under-15 Cricket Tournament being organised by Cricket Federawtion of Tamil Nadu in Chennai from August 13 to 17.
Earlier, the teams were introduced to Director Banyan Tree Ravinder Talwar, who is also general secretary of the Chandigarh Olympic Association.
