Chandigarh, April 5: Punjab Congress has envisaged a comprehensive programme to launch awareness campaign to enlighten the general populace about the benefits accruing to farmers and other sections of society from the central budget of UPA Government and misdeeds and failure of SAD-BJP government on all fronts.
Stating this Punjab Congress spokesman and former Minister S. Jagmohan Singh Kang said that it has been decided by the party to hold “Jan Chetna Rallies” at different places in the state. In the series of the programme starting from Amritsar on 10th April, the party has planned to hold rallies/ public meetings at Moga on 11th, Sirhind on 12th, Talwandi Sabo on 14th (Baisakhi) & Jalandhar on 16th April to mark the birth anniversary of architect of Indian constitution Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. In addition, on 19th of April, a state level rally of OBC Cell of PCC would be organized at Mohali. Simultaneously, meetings and seminars from 5th to 15th April would be held at all district headquarters in the state.
The above meetings will be addressed by senior leaders of the Party including fomer PPCC Presidents. All Party MPs/Ex-MPs, MLAs/Ex-MLAs and Heads of Frontal Organizations and Cells and workers/leaders will attend these meetings.
Mr. Kang said that during all these meetings and rallies stress would be laid on educating the people about historic debt relief package to farmers and relaxations to other sections in the central budget, besides highlighting the total failure of SAD-BJP combine Government on different fronts. Terming the central budget as “Hero”, Mr. Kang said that state budget was “Zero”, hollow and devoid of anything worthwhile or development oriented except running routine expenditures that too by borrowings & by selling public properties.
Mr. Kang said that contrary to the motto of SAD-BJP Government “Raj Nahi, Sewa”, from the goings on, of late, cane charge and manhandling of innocent female Anganwari Workers and ill treatment with members of the fourth estate of democracy-Press, at Bathinda, it is imperative that the present government in the state is neither doing “Raj” nor “Sewa” indicating double standard of the Government.
According to Sh. Raj Pal Singh General Secretary & Media Incharge, the President, PPCC Mrs. Rajinder Kaur Bhattal has appointed Sh. Lakhmir Singh Randhawa former Minister & Sh. Malkiat Singh Dakha former Minister, Sh. Joginder Singh Mann Former Minister Sh. Harmohinder Singh, MLA & Sh. Tej Parkash Singh, MLA as PCC observer for coordinating and organizing of rallies at Amritsar, Moga, Sirhind & Talwandi Sabo respectively. Besides, Sh. Amarjit Singh Samra, MLA, S. Lal Singh MLA, Sh. Sajjan Kumar Jakhar former Minister, Sh. Brahm Mohindra MLA, Mr. Gurbinder Singh Atwal Ex-MLA, Pt. Bal Mukand Sharma former Minister, Mr. Gurchet Singh Bhullar Ex-Minister, Sh. Kewal Singh Dhillon MLA, Sh. Harbans Singh Sidhu, S. Harminder Singh Jassi MLA, Sh. Upender Sharma former Minister, Sh. Vijay Khullar, Sh. Jasjit Singh Randhwa Ex-Minister, Sh. Avtar Henry former Minister & Mr. Harnam Dass Johar former Minister have been appointed incharges to coordinate and organize the meeting in Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Patiala, Sangrur, Nawashahar, Muktsar, Faridkot, Bathinda, Ferozepur, Barnala, Mansa, Hoshiarpur, Ropar, Gurdaspur and Mohali respectively
