CHANDIGARH, OCT 10 : Punjab were in a commanding position by scoring 112 for 3 in 33 overs after skittling out Rajasthan for 142 in 56 runs in their first innings on the opening day of the four-day final of the 3rd All India U-19 Invitation Tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy at the Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium in Patiala today.
Rajasthan were put in to bat by Punjab Under-19 after winning the toss. Their ploy paid rich dividends as Rajasthan were bowled out for 142 in 56 overs. Rajat Chhaparwal (38) was the highest run getter. Left arm spinner Karan Kaila bowled an economical spell of 18 overs eight of which were maidens and claimed 5 wickets while conceding 32 runs. Sunny (2 for 24) and Arpit Singh (2 for 30) gave him ample support. The highest partnership of the Rajasthan innings was of 54 runs for the 5th wicket between Maninder Singh and Rajat Chhapparwal.
Replying Punjab were 112 for 3 in 33 overs at close of first day’s play. Punjab lost their first three wickets with 54 runs on the board with medium pacer Nathu Singh claiming the three victims for 34 runs. Thereafter Anmolpreet Singh unbeaten 47 off 60 balls with 8 boundaries and Nikhil Chaudhary unbeaten 28 off 55 balls with four boundaries added 58 runs for the unbroken 4th wicket.
