Manoj Godara, Chandigarh: Efforts made by the Panjab University Teachers Association (PUTA) bore fruit this evening with the inauguration of the University Staff Club this evening by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. R.C. Sobti in the South Campus.
Housed in one of the newly constructed T-I flats, the Club is airconditioned with a fully equipped kitchen, an LCD TV, music system for parties and ladies’ evenings. Diverse indoor games have been introduced to keep the children occupied while the open space surrounding the Club will soon see the construction of badminton courts as well as the celebration of various community festivals.The Dean University Instruction and the Registrar are the President and Vice President (ex-officio) respectively of the Staff Club. An ad-hoc Committee comprising of the Deans and the core functionaries of PUTA along with Prof R.K. Gupta and Prof Keshav Malhotra would oversee the day-to-day functioning of the Club.
Space has also been allocated for a Children’s Park and Playground as well as a Meadows Garden in the South Campus. This is in continuation of the beautification regimen already put in place by Anil Thakur, SDO (Horticulture) and R.K. Rai, X-En. Cleanliness drives are carried out periodically by PUTA, members of the Ecology Society as well as the resident community
