CHANDIGARH: 14th September 2010: Dr. A. Raghuram Rao, Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh has been selected for the coveted “Dr (Mrs.) Manjusree Pal Memorial Award for the Best Pharmaceutical Scientist Award – 2010” instituted by the Association of Pharmacy Teachers of India (APTI). An Expert Committee of APTI has selected Professor Rao for this year in recognition to his unparalleled contributions to pharmaceutical research and to the profession. He will be conferred with the award, a citation and a cash prize during the Inauguration Function of the two day 15th APTI Annual National Convention to be held on 1st October 2010 at Hyderabad.
Professor Rao, a senior faculty member with a rich teaching and research experience of over 25 years, has published 72 original research papers in national and international journals of repute. He has six patents and two technologies have been transferred for commercial applications to different pharmaceutical industries.
The APTI is the pivotal professional body of pharmacy teachers established in 1966 with the mission of offering the best national platform for dealing with all issues related to Pharmacy Teaching and Education in India. It is the national body with 18 state branches and has the patronage of more than 6,300 life members.
Interestingly on the same occasion, Prof. S.K. Kulkarni, Emeritus Professor, UIPS, PU will be conferred with the Life-time Achievement Award.
