Chandigarh, December 5, 2008: Today, to pay homage to martyrs of recent terror attacks in Mumbai, Panjab University Teachers Association (PUTA), Pb. University Non-teaching Employees Federation, and PU Students Council & YUVSATTA organized an assembly of University students, teaching faculty members and others, at Gandhi Bhawan.
Paying his respects to the bereaved families Prof. RC Sobti, Vice Chancellor remarked that in these trying times courage of conviction of all Indians will not be deterred by such cowardly acts. He appealed to maintain peace and brotherhood at all levels and asked youngsters to take a pledge to uphold the integrity and unity of mother India.
Onkar Chand, Chairperson of Servants of the People’s Society asked violence has no place in the world and this present instances of violence has to be talked jointly by the Government as well as civil society, in which youth of India has a major role to play.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. Ronki Ram, PUTA, President said that India which is emerging as a super power has to be very cautious in dealing with such dastardly acts. He further said that India of Buddha and Gandhi can never be deterred to become the world leader for world peace by such evil designs of nefarious powers.
