Chandigarh : Protests are being held across the globe to condemn and demand the withdrawal of proposalof the Canadian Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism to trash all the immigration applications, retroactively, without processing, which were filed before 27th February 2008 under Federal Skilled worker category numbering more than 3,00,000 and applied as early as 2004. ‘The Canadian Back Loggers Pre 2008 Association, India’ is going to hold protest Rally at 4.00 PM at Sector-25 and Candle March at 7.00 PM at Sector-17, Chandigarh.
This proposal, introduced by Mr. Jason Kenney, ignoring the recommendations of the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration Canada on how to address the backlog of applications, if implemented would crash the plans and dreams of millions of families’ world over who sought to make a Canada their new home, a major part of which comprises of Indians patiently waiting for their turn for the last eight years. The applicants who followed all the rules and did everything Canadian immigration department asked of them, were kept waiting for upto eight yearswith the assurance that their files will be processed by the Canadian Immigration authorities till last moment. The proposal is inhumane and an infringement of their Human Rights who wasted their golden years of their life and other available opportunities, waiting patiently, planning and preparing themselves for their turn to come up and make Canada their new home, believing in the fairness of the Canadian Government and its commitment to its announced policies.
‘The Canadian Back Loggers Pre 2008 Association’ appeals toGovernment of India, all Human Rights Organizations, Political Partiesand the Media, to protect such applicantsfrom being condemned in this inhuman way by the Canadian Government, and take up this issue with the Canadian Government at every level and protect the Human Rights of such applicants.
