9 feb : Maat Pita Santan Divas is a unique way of celebrating parents’ day, a regular annual feature of the college which was celebrated in Dev Samaj College of Education, 36 Chandigarh. The purpose of this function is to pay tribute to the hard work and sacrifice of the devoted parents who provide guidance, support, and unconditional love to their children. As a child’s first teachers, mentors, and role models, parents shape the character of those who will help to build the future of our Nation.
Dr. Jyoti Khanna, Principal of the college welcomed the parents, the Chief Guest Sh.S.M.Sharma, IPS, Additional DGP Panjab. She also highlighted his glorious achievements towards the society as a Police Officer. A Skit “Rishton Ka Ehsaas” was also presented on the occasion to highlight the importance of duties of children towards their parents. Some of the staff members also expressed their gratitude towards their parents through bahjans and self composed poems.
Dr. (Mrs.) Jyoti Khanna, Principal of the college thanked the parents for gracing the occasion. She paid gratitude to her parents saying that whatever she is today is only because of their blessings.
Sh. S.M.Sharma, the Chief Guest in his brief address said that parents should be respected and obeyed by children. All parents are well wishers of children. He further emphasized that now a days everybody, whether he is parent, a child, a student or a teacher needs to rethink about his duties as we are going away from our cultural values. One should say such words which are really imbibed in him or her, not just for the sake of speech as parents help kindle imaginations, inspire love of learning, nurture the formation of young minds, and give children the courage and the drive to realize their dreams.
Speaking on the occasion, Kumari Satyawati Ji, Chairperson of the college, elaborated the importance of this special day which is celebrated in all the institutions of Dev Samaj throughout India. She said that education is incomplete without the feeling of respect and love for one’s parents. The main aim of education in Dev Samaj institutions is to inculcate moral values among students in addition to academic excellence. Old Age homes are a question mark on today’s education.
The function was concluded with the Garland Ceremony in which students garlanded their parents.
