Dr. Avnish Jolly, Chandigarh, July 14, 2008:The Fortune500 company (India), Ind-Swift Pharmaceutical, has forayed into the realm of education to meet the growing need for quality pharmacists in the pharmaceutical industry.
Swift Fundamental Research and Education Society (SFRES) promoted by the Rs.1100 crore Ind-Swift Group, has established the Swift School of Pharmacy and Swift School of Nursing at Rajpura in Punjab.
This was announced here at Chandigarh by Dr. Gopal Munjal, the President of the Society, and Managing Director of Ind-Swift Pharmaceuticals Ltd, at a press conference at Hotel Taj.
"Our objective is to provide world-class holistic education to meet the industry demand for fully trained and skilled professionals who can meet the challenges of the job with confidence and right abilities", says Dr. Munjal. He explained that there is wide gap in the demand and supply of skilled manpower especially in the pharma sector, in north alone, which has over 500 units.
Ind-Swift’s initiative is pace-setter since this is the first ever school of pharmacy that has the backing of the pharma industry, and shall be able to provide 100 percent placement to the students.
"We feel socially responsible as a part of our corporate social responsibility to give back to the society, and empower our youth through right kind of education and training which can contribute to the national growth", said Dr. Munjal.
Ind-Swift which has the second largest research based manufacturing facilities in the north, would be integrating the new knowledge, the practical experience of the working pharmaceutical experts and scientists in the delivery of education through Swift School, which would make every student competent enough to be immediately employable, said Dr. Rachna Kumaria, Director of the Swift School of Pharmacy.
Swift School shall be offering a four-year degree programme in B.Pharm., which has been approved by All India Council of Technical Education and the Government of Punjab, and is affiliated to Panjab Technical University.
The campus of the Institute is in Rajpura on National Highway 21, and very soon Ind-Swift Group shall be setting up an international business school, a college for health engineering, engineering, architecture, hotel management, etc.
The state-of-the-art campus is centrally airconditioned and is fully-equipped with labs, smart class rooms, library, and hostel facilities and has provision for 60 seats to which students from medical and non-medical streams can take admission after plus-two.
