30 Apr : Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers Union (PCCTU) has demanded an impartial inquiry into last minute changes of some examination center Superintendents. In a letter written to Panjab University Vice Chancellor, Prof H.S Walia, General Secretary, PCCTU expressed concern over the eleventh hour changes of center superintendents made in the ongoing Annual Examinations of Panjab University. He wrote that these changes are seemingly without any rhyme and reason and there seems to be something fishy about it. He said that it appears that the hasty step was taken to harass some of the center Superintendents located in Hoshiarpur and Ferozpur districts to serve the purpose of some vested interests.
He further wrote that PCCTU never involves itself in any mud slinging and has been votary of highest standards in academics and appropriate solutions to the problems. The conduct of fair examination is of paramount importance and given the serious nature of the issue, PCCTU favours an impartial enquiry into the entire gamut of the issue, to bring out the truth and punish the guilty in the larger interest of higher education.
