CHANDIGARH, December 9: The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh will start touring the districts across the state from Sangrur on December 22 to meet the party workers.
Disclosing this here today, senior party leader and former minister Mr Lal Singh said, the PCC President will be meeting District Congress Committee workers at Sangrur on December 22. This will be followed by another such meeting at Tarn Taran on December 24.
Mr Singh said, the PCC had charted out a comprehensive programme for its president under which all the districts will be covered in the first phase. He said, the party will also be holding Jor Mela conference at Fatehgrah Sahib on December 27 while Maghi Mela conference will be held at Muktsar on January 14.
The former minister said, unlike the road shows in Amritsar and Patiala, the PCC will this time be organising public meetings to interact with the party workers and cadres. “These will be the extended meetings of the District Congress Committees”, he said.
He maintained that there was unprecedented enthusiasm among the party workers and leaders all over the state about holding rallies in their respective districts. He disclosed that senior party leaders, MLAs, sitting and former ministers have been regularly asking for Capt Amarinder Singh’s programme at their places.
Mr Singh said, the PCC President will cover every nook and corner of the state and reach out to all sections of the people. While he is regularly meeting people at the PCC office in Chandigarh, now he will be going to meet them at their doorsteps.
The senior Congress leader said, the district meetings will be followed by rallies in each of the 117 assembly segments across the state. This, he added, will be done in the second phase. Each and every party leader and worker is being involved in the organising of these programmes, the Congress leader added.
