S.P.Pandey,Chandigarh April 7 : Hundreds of members of Bhagwan Valmiki Shobha Yatra Aayojak Committee Chandigarh lead by its Chairman Mr Rajesh Kalia today forced Congress candidate for Chandigarh Parliamentary constituency Mr Pawan Bansal to abandon his padyatra of Maloya colony.
Members of the committee were ready with black flags and banners to protest against Mr Bansal’s padyatra before he reached the Maloya colony this morning. As soon as Mr Bansal and his supporters reached Maloya Colony the leaders and members came out to block their way. In a matter of minutes their protest forced the Congress leaders and their supporters to retreat. Mr Bansal had to return without going round the colony to canvass for votes as planned.
According to Mr Rajesh Kalia, Chairman of BVSYACC, the committee will continue to oppose Mr Bansal as long as he does not offer regrets for use of caste based abuses against the by his supporters to members of the Scheduled caste and a case is not registered against his supporter and former Youth Congress President Mr HS Lucky. He said members of the committee will continue to show black flags to stop his padyatra till this is done.
