Chandigarh June 25 : The much-awaited National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) grading is out and Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh has got a score of 3.35 out of 4. Moreover, grade “A” (denoting very good) has been allotted to the university. The score was announced by NAAC today. The NAAC team had visited Panjab University in March month to grade it.
Responding to the announcement, PU Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover said that we are conscious of our weaknesses and strengths. Strengthening of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), implementation of Choice Based Credit System, strengthening of students’ feedback mechanism and improvement in infrastructure development of departments and hostels would be our priorities, added Prof Grover.
E Class to e-governance, consolidation of smaller departments, improvement in the living conditions at the hostels, maintenance of university buildings and overall ambience, encouraging the faculty to write more and better quality research papers and enhancement in employment potential via skill development infrastructure would also be our key priorities, he further added. NAAC assesses the University/Colleges on seven criteria of Curricular Aspects; Teaching-Learning and Evaluation; Teaching-Learning and Evaluation; Research, Consultancy and Extension; Infrastructure and Learning Resources; Student Support and Progression; Governance, Leadership & Management and Innovations & Best Practices.
